Characters |
Park Siwon – Main character,
first year student at the prestigious private school Annyeong High School. He
remains in the last place rank at the school by an overwhelming margin,
making him wonder how he even got into the school. He thinks he’s decent looking, with a height at 172 centimeters and average features
and an average body. He makes a lot of jokes, and instead of studying he
likes to snoop around the school and cause trouble. The day the monsters
arrive he begins his survival with the help of ‘Won’. He joins a group of survivors in the broadcasting room and searches for
a way out of the school while fighting monsters on the front line.
Choi Junsik – Park Siwon’s friend. He tries to fulfill his responsibilities as a student with his
calm and honest personality and good grades, but when he is involved with
Park Siwon he loses all sense of reason. He’s 180cm tall and
has a wide frame, but he gets involved in mischief with Park Siwon to the
point that his physical condition is wasted. He left the school just before
the monsters arrived and struggles to search for his missing friend.
‘Won’ – The only prepared monster hunter in the school when the monsters began
to appear. He guides Kim Myungjin to form a group of survivors and helps
teach Park Siwon the skills to deal with the monsters. He’s capable but doesn’t bother the monsters until
the group of survivors begins to meddle. He has a cold and consistent
personality that can only be seen as the survivors die off. He has long,
bleached-white hair and no one has seen his face because he wears an opera
mask and black zip-up hoodie. A mysterious character who seems to know a lot
of secrets about the appearance of the monsters.
Kim Myungjin – The 5th
Student Council President of Annyeong High School. He is a smart and clever
negotiator who is able to deal with the Principal, Vice Principal, and the
Chairman alone on behalf of the students if necessary. He has a reputation of
trust among both students and faculty that he has maintained by being the
best, and after the monsters appear he quickly gathers the surviving students
in the broadcast room. Has a tendency to make holistic decisions in which he
can sacrifice one for the many. He has a neat appearance and wears thin
titanium glasses tightly pressed against his nose. He has a habit of putting
his hands on his chin when he falls deep in thought.
Han Wooyoung – Principal, a
powerful man who controls the school instead of the vice-principal. Chairman
of the Sungwon Foundation, owned by the largest group in korea, the Sungwon
Group. Although he was the third son, he was famous for his intelligence and
charisma and during his teen years the media focused on whether he would join
the battle for succession. However, in his early 20’s he chose to
head the Sungwon Foundation, which was unprofitable and had no vision, making
people question his choices. Since he took control of the foundation in his
early 30’s, he has been pushing forward with his vision
by purchasing a school site closed due to a fire, creating special classes,
and setting up various scholarship programs, thus creating a reputation for
Annyeong High School. He gives the impression of a handsome man with short,
regent-style hair and a sharp navy suit. He announces to the media that they
will actively respond to the large-scale disappearance of students at the
school due to a monster outbreak.
Green Monsters – The first
monster the main character meets, and the kind the students in the school
encounter the most. They have the form of a walking lizard, with large horns
on their heads and sharp canines that reach their lower jaw, claws on all
four legs, and a sharp, black-striped tail, all of which serve as terrible
weapons. The smallest creatures are about the size of a medium-sized dog, but
the largest can reach nearly ten meters long, and the approximate level of
intelligence can be distinguished by the number of stripes on the tail. They
show strong hostility towards the students and are instinctually violent.
Yellow Monsters – A monster of
higher rank than the Green Monsters, it is no larger than a human but has a
cruel sense of intelligence that the Green Monsters can’t compare to. Possesses an innate brutality and doesn’t hesitate to assault and slaughter even other monsters. Unlike the Green
Monsters, its bipedality allows it to use more difficult and threatening
attacks and use both hands freely like a human. Although each Yellow Monster
is similar in appearance, each is equipped with special organs or appendages
depending on its individual abilities such as corrosion fluid, body modification,
tentacle generation, and ignition. Although awkward, it has the ability to
speak like a human, though each one can only repeat once sentence.
Red Angel – Looks like a
human being other than the existence of wings. It’s hair, nails,
and skin are all dyed in blood, giving it an eerie appearance even from afar.
Has a gentle appearance that matches the face of a young middle-school boy,
but it has the ability to coordinate monsters, is openly hostile towards the
surviving students, and has the ability to freely transform its entire body
into fluids or other forms. It talks like a human and has great influence
over the creation of a black rugby club by giving special items to survivor
Jung Hyunbeom.
Jung Hyunbeom – A transfer
student in the rugby club who is part of the school’s bad student
crowd. He forms the black rugby club after receiving an unidentified syringe
from the Red Angel. This syringe grants strength and causes violent
tendencies proportionate to the amount of green monster blood injected, and
when it exceeds the proper amount, the person loses all autonomy and only
follows the orders of the syringe owner, creating the so-called “black rugby club”. He kills a large number of
green monsters, but it turns out that it was just to accumulate immense power
through a stable supply of blood, certifying that he is an enemy. He is a
faithful servant of the Red Angel.
???(To be revealed) – The culprit
behind the monster outbreak at Annyeong High School. He was killed in a fire
caused by school violence at Youngwoong Middle School, the school that
existed before Annyeong High, and harbors strong resentment and anger towards
school violence and bullying. Those who die before their destined time, such
as in suicide cases, face the punishment of original sin, and are doomed to
repeat the moment of their death endlessly. This character has maximized his
feelings of revenge and hatred and has gradually gained superpowers of his
own after escaping his punishment. After creating monsters with the power
that he accumulated over 120 years, he summons the students at Annyeong High
to fight them and conducts an experiment on “how to face
random, one-sided violence”. Currently, he is part of
the group of survivors trapped in the broadcasting room. He borrowed the appearance
of an existing student and is observing them while biding his time until the
opportune moment. |

Short Introduction |
My name is Park Siwon, a first-year student at
Annyeong High school, a private school that everyone envies. However, I hate this school. The cries of those things, the slaughter, the
screams of my friends. May 29, 2019. On a cool night in which I
thought it was too early to wear summer close, only despair remained. |

Summary |
Beginning -May 29, 2019. 7pm. A group
of high school students who remained after school for various reasons,
including Park Siwon, encounter monsters that suddenly appear. He tried to
escape the school to avoid the monsters that were brutally killing anyone in
sight without hesitation, but when he tried to go beyond the school, he found
himself stuck and unable to escape. At the moment of helplessness, a group of
surviving students gathers in the broadcast room thanks to an unidentified
monster hunter who mysteriously appeared and the student council president.
Meanwhile, in the real world
of Annyeong High school, which is still flowing freely as if it is a separate
space, media news outlets report the mysterious disappearance of 30 students
and that the world is on the verge of being attacked. In response, Han
Wooyoung, the Chairman of the Sungwon Foundation and third son of the Sungwon
Group, held a press conference to actively brief the public on the measures
they are taking to deal with the disappearance of the students, and warns the
media not to spread unconfirmed reports, swearing on the honor of the Sungwon
Group. After seeing the broadcast, Choi Junsik, a friend of Park Siwon,
begins to formulate a plan to save Park Siwon on his own.
Middle -Although the masked monster
hunter called ‘Won’ is fully
capable, he refuses to deal with the monsters and instead forces the student
council president and band of surviving students to deal with it on their
own. The student council president begins reconnaissance with Park Siwon, who
is the most active and experienced with the monsters, as the leader, and
after a long time and lots of sacrifices, they successfully complete a sweep
of the Yellow Monsters, starting with the Green Monsters.
Park Siwon, who was injured
close to death in the process of wiping out the Yellow Monsters, meets the
spirit of a young boy who committed suicide due to school violence, the
prototype of the Yellow Monsters, and is able to recover completely while
gaining the same physical capabilities as the monster. With the awakening of
Park Siwon, who performs under the direction of ‘Won’, the group of survivors searches outside of the building for the first
time, but in fact all of the events were orchestrated by ‘Won’.
Climax -As the search team headed
to the playground outside the building, they were barely able to escape
annihilation after a brush against the ‘black rugby team’ led by former student Jung Hyunbeom and a Red Angel. Park Siwon finds
his friend Choi Junsik’s cell phone near the gate
and informs the student council president of his friend’s message, and the student council president then discovers that time in
the school is flowing 24 times faster, and less than a day has passed in the
outside world.
After confirming the
existence of a ‘gap’ between the two
schools through an old mailbox in front of the gate, in order to communicate
with the real world, the student council president creates a ‘Left Behind Student Rescue Team’ led by the vice
president and Choi Junsik in the real world, and eventually creates a full-fledged
escape operation. However, the student council president is forced to
sacrifice himself and blow up their shelter. Park Siwon and the other
survivors, who now lost both their shelter and leader, flock to rooftop of
the main building where they encounter monsters, the black rugby club, and
the main culprit of the incident, ???.
End -They find out that both ???
and the Red Angel lived before the time of Annyeong High School and were both
victims of school violence; one committed suicide by fire and the other was
killed in an explosion while protecting a friend. Using the school as a
stage, the two of them were using the survivors to experiment with the “public’s response to random and one-sided violence” and were preparing for a full-fledged invasion of the world,
disappointed with the public’s response of “avoiding with indifference or even greater violence”.
After sensing failure, ‘Won’ reveals that he is actually Park Siwon from
another dimension and has been exploring all dimensions in search of the
right answer. He tried to send everyone back to the real world through a
crack in the basement of the last dormitory, but he gradually lost his
abilities after returning to reality instead of Park Siwon because of Park
Siwon’s sacrifice. In the meantime, an open audit of the Office of Education is
conducted in the real world of Annyeong High School, and Won, who attended
the meeting as a witness, uses the last of his abilities to shoot the content
into the sky in the world of monsters where Park Siwon remains with the
monsters.
Chairman Han Wooyoung, who
at the time was a counselor at Youngwoong Middle School, clearly remembers
the situation with the fire and the names of the two students who were
consulted about school violence and built Annyeong High School to foster the
right students. As a result, ??? and the Red Angel disappear, but the world
in which the souls of school violence victims gather remains the same, so
Park Siwon builds a new school to honor the victims rather than a school of
monsters.
In the real world, most of the people involved
in the case, including ‘Won’, Choi Junsik,
and Chairman Han Wooyoung, continue operating the ‘Left Behind
Student Rescue Team’ as a group that consults and helps victims of
violence in various fields. The work ends with Siwon’s speech about
understanding those who hate school now, and that he at least hopes to be
able to change the school without any sacrifices. |
